No Shame, No Blame. We are all the Same..
Today is YOUR day. Today is MY day. Today is OUR day. It is everyone’s day today. Yes, today is World Mental Health Day. This day and this month is being dedicated to all of us. Today’s article will be different from the rest of my articles. This article is dedicated to the all the men, women, kids, young and elderly people who have been suffering in silence since God knows when…. The people around us who are still suffering because other people even their own loved ones will shame them, blame them on opening up about their mental health.
Cheerful, happy faces do not always mean their life is perfect, apparently a calm and composed person may be suffering from anxiety and trying hard not to make others “uncomfortable” because of them. Depression is not always about pills and suicide-notes. Many people appear “completely okay” may not be okay at all.
We as humans need to create an atmosphere of empathy, trust, love and kindness for one another. On the other hand, asking for help and especially regarding our mental health is thought of as a sign of weakness. Let me tell you IT IS NOT A SIGN OF WEAKNESS. It is basically what we humans do. We are social animals. We cannot survive without the help of one another. Empathy, Care, Love, Trust and Kindness are the traits what make us human beings.
It is said that,
“Strength and Sensitivity are soulmates.”
Asking for help actually shows a great sense of responsibility that you want to change something that is not helping you. Asking for help actually means you do not want to stuck in a certain pattern of behaviors that is not constructive enough to getting you through. If you have taken the responsibility, if you are going to ask for help, You are the bravest person indeed. Do not let anyone box you in and tell you what you are and what you are not and what you should and what should not do. There is much more in store than you realize.
In the end, as per World Health Organization (WHO)’s slogan for Mental Health Day 2021 advocates, “Mental Health Care for All: Let’s make it a reality”.
Let’s gather all to make this actually happen. This Mental Health Day, let’s get together to spread awareness among people who think that it is a sign of weakness if they open up about their mental health issues as it is said that the real strength is actually winning a battle inside your head. Let’s make them realize that they are not alone in this journey. If they’d be the first drop of rain, many will join them on their way and surely will win the battle together.
