Pseudo-Bulbar Affect (PBA) is a disorder of nervous system, a neurological disorder, that makes you laugh, cry or full of anger suddenly. It is not in your control when it happens.
Alternative names for Pseudo-Bulbar Affect (PBA):
· Pathological laughing or crying
· Emotional Dysregulation
· Involuntary Crying
· Emotional Incontinence
· Emotional Lability
Symptoms of Pseudo-Bulbar Affect (PBA)
If you or your loved one is suffering from Pseudo-Bulbar Affect, you might have noticed these or some of these symptoms
· Uncontrollable, abrupt and extreme fits of laughter or crying
· Laughing or crying not according or appropriate to the situation
· Anger and frustration flare-ups
· Face expressions do not match with the situation or their own emotions(e.g., if they do not feel like laughing, they will still laugh uncontrollably).
These flare-ups of crying, laughing or anger can occur multiple times in a day or in a month.
